Headspace is an
interactive spatial robot consisting of a
matrix of 256 motorised rods. Its control system
has four sensors to detect
human presence and access to 3D-scans
of the faces of 700 schoolchildren. The rod
matrix is able to assume these face-like
forms, as well as morph between them and
perform geometric transitions. Headspace was
installed at Christ Church Grammar
School, in Western Australia to commemorated
the 100th year of the school.
